Valentine's Day Gift Guide Featuring Local Seattle Businesses

I was raised by two small business owners and now I run my own small business, so it’s very important for me to support other local vendors and artists in the Seattle area. Here are a few of my favorite ideas for local Valentine’s Day gifts for your loved ones!

Pre-Order Gorgeous Blooms from Glasswing Greenhouse

If you’re going to buy flowers, do them the right way. Skip the last minute grocery store bouquet that you’re going to overpay for and hate staring at for a week. Instead, pre-order a stunning bouquet or centerpiece from Glasswing Greenhouse’s love collection where each arrangement will be unique and handmade by a local Seattle florist. They offer different sizes starting at $35 so you really have a lot of options, but I love this simple white ‘Paris’ centerpiece.

Document Your Love with a Fine Art Photography Session by Sarah Carpenter

I discovered Sarah Carpenter through the Seattle wedding community but have since fallen in love with her fine art photographs of couples, families, brands and travels. My personal favorites are her in-home family sessions where she captures precious moments of ordinary life and turns them into timeless works of art. A session with her would be a wonderful gift for your loved ones any time of the year, but it’s a great way to document your love around Valentine’s Day.

Buy an Elegant Card from Sablewood Paper Company’s Etsy Shop

If you’re going to need a card, please buy it from someone who makes these products by hand and not a big box store. My dear friend Holly at Sablewood Paper Co. makes these elegant “You’re my favorite” cards with her own letterpress and you can get them on Etsy. You can also see her designs at Paper Delights, which is a cute (and locally-owned) stationery shop in Wallingford.

Gift a Sugar Cookie Class with Morgan G Cookies

I have been mildly stalking with Morgan G Cookies’ Instagram stories for months to watch her create beautiful and unique sugar cookie designs with royal icing. Okay, I’ll admit it’s not mild stalking but more of an obsession. She is offering some Valentine’s Day cookie decorating classes, though as I’m writing this they are probably selling out. But if you are looking for a unique gift for your mom, wife or girlfriend, you could always arrange for a private class!

Get Tickets to the Pacific Northwest Ballet

I have seen almost every show the Pacific Northwest Ballet has put on since I moved to Seattle three years ago and I am never disappointed. These local dancers create beautiful art and every performance is magnificent. Currently there is a performance of Sleeping Beauty that is on until February 10th but I’m also looking forward to A Midsummer Night’s Dream coming in April.

Customize a Beautiful Bottle of Jo Malone Perfume

My friend Crystal at The Fancy Cat Studio will be using her talented calligraphy skills to engrave any Jo Malone perfume purchase at Nordstrom Bellevue on Saturday, February 9th. Perfume is always a luxurious gift to give, but make it extra special by adding your loved one’s name to the bottle!

Order Something Sweet from Jenny Cookies Bakeshop

Okay yes, this the second baked goods related item on this list, but I blame the fact that I was raised working in my dad’s bakery! Jenny Cookies Bakeshop has a whole Valentine’s Day menu full of sugary goodness to gift your loved one with. Cookies are their specialty but they have cakes, cupcakes and these strawberry heart cookie pies that I’m in love with! Just order online and pickup at their shop in Lake Stevens.
